Welcome to the c3 website, online home of the Charged Charm Card.
What is a Charged Charm Card?
They’re those little cards on our header – they’re made of stainless steel, or titanium, with silk and linen threads attached. They’re about credit card sized, and they’re made to come apart easily and the parts then become items of jewellery, specifically rings, earrings and pendants (that’s why the threads – something to hang them from.)
Why have jewellery in card format?
Well, the C3 artists Jill and Melissa noticed that the tradition of giving charms was often speculative; that lucky charms were often given for protection and future luck. But what if the bad thing had already happened? The artists set out to create a small kit of pieces, in the shape of a credit card, that could be used to create a piece of jewellery almost instantaneously, that were always on-hand ‘in case of an emergency’.
Emergency? Obviously Jill and Melissa don’t mean a real emergency, but one something like a minor emotional scrape – the equivalent of missing a bus and having to run to make a meeting, or having a cold that in turn stops you being able to attend a party. These are times when you might remain frustrated or sad, or in some sort of charged emotional state for a time, but a quick charm might help you forget all about your woe.
So the Charged Charm Card was born! We decided that it needed to be easily portable, so that charms could be made and gifted as soon as the un-charming event happened. Our aim is to empower people, by giving them the tools to enact quick emotional change on their friends, colleagues and family.
Why the website?
We’ve handed out a bunch of cards in little packages with instructions and tracking sheets, so we back here at c3 headquarters can see how our idea works. We’re counting on our project participants to update us on where their cards end up, and we’re keen to meet the people who end up with our charms.
Please follow along in our journey to find out where the little charmers end up, and in the mean time, look out! You might just get charmed
